Egypt, whose full name is the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a Mediterranean country bordered by Palestine and Israel to the northeast, the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west. It lies on the border of North Africa and Southwest Asia. It is paid in Egyptian pounds. The official language here is Modern Standard Arabic, but Egyptian Arabic is more commonly used in colloquial form. In addition, Greek, Armenian or Italian are found in Egypt, which are the main languages of the immigrants.
Egypt is the driest and sunniest country in the world. The climate is different depending on where you are. It is the warmest year-round in the area near Aswan, where the temperature in summer usually reaches 47 °C and even in the coldest winter it hovers around 25 °C during the day. Aswan belongs to the driest regions of the world, where rain may not appear for several years. The most suitable periods for a holiday are the months of March and April, October and November, when in almost all areas of Egypt the temperature is kept in the range of 26°C - 29°C, thus reminiscent of the Mediterranean climate.
The capital city of Cairo, usually Masr in colloquial Arabic, is located in the northeastern part of Egypt. Giza, where the world-famous pyramids are located, merges (structurally) with Cairo on the west bank. In Cairo, Africa's largest bazaar - Khan el-Khalilí Bazaar, which together with Muski Street forms the core of Islamic Cairo, is definitely worth a visit. Also, for example, the Citadel, which is a fortress near Mukkatám hill. The most interesting building of the Citadel is the Alabaster Mosque, which was built by Muhammad Ali. Also worth mentioning are the Egyptian Museum, Islamic Cairo, Cairo Tower, Southern City of the Dead, Northern City of the Dead and Heliopolis, where the Egyptian president now resides.
Of course, Egypt also has its own unique cuisine, from which for example falafel (chickpea balls) comes. You can also order a shavarna, which is the Egyptian version of a kebab. Otherwise, the dishes here are mostly made from legumes, vegetables, fruits, and pita bread called eish is served as a side dish. If you like sweets, you must not miss the baklava, a sweet made of layers of thin puff pastry filled with nuts.
Tourism is very important for the country. The historical monuments, which are thousands of years old and have made Egypt a world-famous destination, are a major attraction for the millions of tourists who visit the country every year. You can find them in almost every corner of Egypt. The most visited destinations include the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, the city of Luxor, the Abu Simbel Temple, the Karnak Temple Complex and the Valley of the Kings. If you chose Egypt to swim in the sea, the resorts of Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam or Taba will certainly not disappoint you.
