The city of Bordeaux, located in the southwest of France. One of the most beautiful and popular neighborhoods in Bordeaux is the Quai des Chartrons, which is an embankment on the left bank of the Garonne River.
Chartrons was originally a separate municipality and served as a trading center for wine merchants in the 18th and 19th centuries. This neighborhood is named after the Carthusian monastery that used to be there and which gave the neighborhood its name (Chartrons is derived from the word "Chartreux", which means Carthusian monks). At that time, the Quai des Chartrons was an important port where Bordeaux wines reached the whole world. Even today it is possible to see the historic warehouses that remind of this glorious era of winemaking.
