Březník (called Pürstling in German) is located in the valley of Luzenské brook in the Kvildské plains not far from Modrava. In the valley, the confluence of the Luzenské and Březnické streams forms the Modravský stream, which flows further into the Vydra.
The area around Březník is the coldest and rainiest in the Czech Republic.
In the Middle Ages, the "Golden Path" led through the valley, connecting Bohemia with Passau. Today in Březník, the educational trail "Transformation of mountain spruce" runs through the forest. At the same time, there is one of the most beautiful views of Luzný, which is located just beyond the Czech-German border in Bavaria.

In the wide valley of the Luzenský brook in the middle of the Šumava National Park, samota Březník is located about 7.5 km from Modrava. Březník lies at an altitude of 1126 meters. In the building of the reconstructed historical Schwarzenberg gamekeeper's lodge, there is an information center of the Šumava National Park Administration with a permanent exhibition focusing on the history of the surroundings of Březník and the writer Karel Klostermann. The writer Karel Klostermann placed the plot of his novel From the World of Forest Solitudes in this environment.
The first wooden building was built in Březník in 1804, and in 1856 a new stone house was built. It continued to serve as a hunting lodge until 1951. After that, the house served as a stable for the border company until 1969, since then it has been uninhabited and dilapidated. In 1999, the reconstruction of the former photo gallery began in this beautiful romantic place in the middle of Šumava.
