Horská Kvilda, which lies at a height of approximately 1070 meters above sea level, is considered one of the most important mountain resorts in the Czech Republic.

Horská Kvilda is known for its picturesque nature and preserved mountain environment. Surrounded by vast forests, meadows and mountain peaks, it offers visitors amazing opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing.

The history of Horská Kvilda dates back to the 18th century, when it was founded as a mountain settlement. Over the years, it has become an important center of trade and services for the mountainous areas of Šumava. Many historical buildings and structures, such as the Church of St. Thomas, testify to the rich history of the village. The church is an important architectural monument and its tower provides breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Horská Kvilda is also a starting point for discovering other treasures of Šumava. Not far from the village, for example, there is Modrava, a picturesque mountain village that is the gateway to the Šumava National Park. Another interesting attraction in the vicinity is the so-called "Devil's Lake", which is the largest glacial lake in Šumava.

     The village of Horská Kvilda is located in the center of Šumava in the district of Prachatice. Kvilda is located below the hill Antýgl and with an altitude of 1065 m2 is the second highest village in the Czech Republic. There are about 30 scattered houses on Horská Kvilda.

     The Hamerský stream flows through the village. It is located on a plateau with many moors and wetlands at an altitude of 1,045 - 1,090 m.n.m. Horská Kvilda is one of the highest villages in the Czech Republic and this ensures enough snow throughout the winter. There are a large number of maintained cross-country ski trails, in summer there are bike paths and marked hiking trails. In the village we can visit the neo-Gothic church of St. Štěpán. When visiting Kvilda, we must not miss the main tourist destination, which is the source of the Vltava on the eastern slope of Montenegro. There is also a family, newly modernized, small ski area for families with children Ski Kvilda.
