On the east coast of Iceland, in the heart of the ice kingdom, lies one of the most breathtaking places on this island country - Jökulsárlón. This lake, completely unique in its beauty and atmosphere, is one of the most famous glacial lakes in the world.
Jökulsárlón was formed as a result of melting glaciers from the nearby Vatnajökull glacier, which is the largest glacier in Europe. As the glaciers slowly recede into the sea, this impressive lake is formed, which is fed by these groin beauties of ice monoliths. These are then slowly floated across the lake, creating a fantastic and peaceful sight.
