Michalovce is a town in eastern Slovakia, located in the Košice region. Michalovce is located approximately 60 km east of Košice and 30 km from the Ukrainian border. The Laborec river flows through the city.
The history of Michalovci dates back to the 12th century, when the first settlement existed here. The city gradually developed and gained importance. In its center there are historical buildings and monuments that reflect the city's rich past. One of the dominant features of the town of Michalovce is the baroque-classical mansion of the Sztáray family.
In the vicinity of the city there is a large water reservoir Zemplínská Šírava, which offers the possibility of swimming, water sports and relaxation on the beach. For nature lovers, there are many hiking trails that lead to picturesque waterfalls, beautiful viewpoints and nature reserves.
