Příbram is located at the confluence of the river Litavka and the stream Brdce, at the foot of the Brdská vrchovina, approximately 60 kilometers southwest of the capital city of Prague. With an area of approximately 33 square kilometers and a population of around 34,000 inhabitants, Příbram ranks among the smaller Czech cities.
The history of Příbram dates back to the 13th century, when a settlement called Prebyram was founded here. Over the centuries, the city grew and became a silver mining center. Thanks to rich silver deposits, Příbram gained an important position in Central Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. Silver mining continued here until the 20th century, and many historical buildings and monuments that are still in Příbram testify to this history.
One of the most important monuments is the Church of St. James, which is the dominant feature of the city. This baroque church was built in the 18th century and houses a valuable work of art – the Ecce Homo painting by Master Třeboňský. Another interesting monument is the Příbram Castle, which served as the administrative center of silver mining. Today, it is home to the City Museum, which presents the history of the city and the region.

Příbram, a former royal upper town, is a town in the Central Bohemian Region located in the Brd region on the Litavka river. Příbram became famous for the mining of silver and later iron and uranium ores. Therefore, the main tourist attraction in this city is the Mining Museum with a number of above-ground and underground exhibits. Here you can see permanent exhibitions and mining buildings, you can even take a mining train to the mouth of the 1,600 m deep Prokop pit, which is the deepest shaft in the entire district.
Above Příbram is the Baroque pilgrimage site Svatá Hora, built in the mid-17th century by architect Carlo Lurago. It is one of the most famous Marian pilgrimage sites in Central Europe and one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the Czech Republic.
With children, you can go on a tour of the Drkolnov mine with a unique underground water wheel, where you can descend into the depths on a 51-meter-long "slide". This attraction is especially popular with young visitors. The Příbram aqua park offers sports use, in winter you can look forward to the Padák ski area. One of the pleasant places that the citizens of the city use for recreation and relaxation is undoubtedly the Litavka Forest Park.
