Sušice is located in the southwestern part of the Czech Republic. The city is surrounded by beautiful nature, which makes it an ideal starting point for exploring Šumava. Sušice is often referred to as the "Gateway to Šumava. The history of Sušice dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was founded.

In the vicinity of Sušice, you will find several interesting monuments, including the ruins of Rabi Castle, which stands on a hill above the town. Other monuments are the monastery Klášterec nad Otavou and the chapel of St. Anne on the St. Anna hill, from where there are wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

In the Sušice Museum of Šumava, you can admire one of the largest mechanical nativity scenes in the Czech Republic, in addition to an exhibition about the world-famous production of matches in Sušice. Another interesting exhibition is the presentation of the Šumava tradition of glassmaking, including a display of the products of the famous Šumava glassworks – Adolfov, Klášterský Mlýn, Lenora and Annín.

Not far from the town of Sušice is the Svatobor lookout tower. The Svatobor lookout tower is one of the most visited observation towers in Šumava and offers an amazing panoramic view of the beauty of this Bohemian mountain range.
