The town of Havlíčkův Brod is located in the valley of the Sázava River in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The name of the city refers to the journalist and patriot Karel Havlíček Borovský, to whom a permanent exhibition is dedicated in the Museum of the Highlands in the house on Havlíček Square, in which Karel Havlíček lived until he was exiled to Brixen.
On the edge of the historic center is the Future Park with lots of walking paths, several ponds and a waterfall. The Rebel beer is produced in the Měšťanské pivovar, which can be tasted directly in the Pivovarské inn.
