     Svitavy is located in the Pardubice region. One of the important monuments of the city is Svitavy Square. This is a square with the second longest arcade in our country. The oldest houses on the square include the town hall from 1538 and the U Mouřenína house from 1554. Among the most beautiful buildings in the city are the Ottendorfer house from 1892.
One of the famous Svitavy natives was the businessman Oskar Schindler (1908–1974), who was a Nazi and an agent of the German intelligence service, but at the same time saved more than 1,200 Jews from deportation to concentration camps during World War II. His heroic deed can be seen in the film Schindler's List, which won seven Oscars, by director Steven Spielberg.
     Visitors to the city should not miss the Svitavy Museum and Gallery, where they will see a unique exhibition of washing machines and the development of washing machines from the simplest to the first automatic washing machines.
